ANTARANGA: BETWEEN YOU AND ME

ANTARANGA: BETWEEN YOU AND ME

$5 - $50

The approximate run time of the event is 80 minutes with no intermission.

ANTARANGA: BETWEEN YOU AND ME is set in a world in deep crisis, where most people have lost their ability to sense the energy of other human beings and can no longer recognize or connect with each other. A few humsafar (“fellow travelers” in Urdu) remain, blessed with super-connecting and heart-opening powers. As they undertake perilous journeys, they forge connectivities that may yet heal the world. ANTARANGA is the first work in a duology, and explores themes of intimacy, connection, trust, and community among BIPOC women/femmes. Ananya Dance Theatre’s ensemble of BIPOC women/femme dance artists will celebrate its 20th season in 2025, with the second and final work in this series.

GLOFFUC: GLOBAL FEMINIST FUNK UNDERGROUND CLUB

MAY 12, june 27, & august 23

Imagine a group of feminists from all over the world, specifically from global communities of color, meeting in an underground club deep in the center of the world... This space is where they dance fiercely, to throw off the residue of their endless struggles to organize and push back against injustices, and to meditate on renewal.  Inaugurated in 2019, ADT brings back GloFFUC to offer a space of resilience amidst these times of amplified injustice.

Join us as we gather in meditation and intentional dance to meet the moment. Facilitated by Artistic Director Ananya Chatterjea and Artists of Ananya Dance Theatre, we will cultivate a practice of dance and embodied meditation that is invested in seeing and honoring the contexts of our resistance and survival. Between these meditations, local musicians and poets will hold sonic space for folks to move, rest, and be as they feel called.

Gloffuc is free and open to the public!

summer intensive 2025: dream dancing

dance as a dream practice. dream as a dance practice.

Build physical strength, emotional stamina, and transnational solidarities through daily movement practice.

Ananya Dance Theatre offers our once-annual intensive training in our distinctive movement aesthetic, Yorchhā™, and choreographic practice, Shawngrām. The Intensive cohort meets every weekday for one week. Each meeting will begin with instruction in Yorchhā. Whether this is your first experience with Yorchhā or you have been practicing for multiple summers, we will meet you where you are, opening paths towards your individual excellence. After a brief break, the daily focus will shift to structured improvisational and choreographic processes. At the end of the week, you will be a part of a choreographic offering in front of a community audience.

Where? Join us at the Shawngrām Institute (1197 University Ave W, St. Paul. MN 55104).

When? April 27 & August 9, 3:00pm–5:30pm.
